Sabor de Lujo

March 31, 2014

I had the pleasure of being invited to the second annual 'Sabor de Lujo' event held in Los Angeles. The event is sponsored by Lexus and is one of many Vida Lexus events held to celebrate Latin culture. The evening featured a hypnotic presentation of exotic cuisine, beats and rhythm. The bash was set at the swanky Sofitel Hotel where I was immediately greeted with sexy beats played by the lovely ladies DJ Lezlee and DJ AngeVee. There were several dancing duos, captivating you with their impressive movements. The drinks were brimming with color and flavor, prepared by the leading mixologists in our region. The drinks complemented the spread wholly, with tasty treats courtesy of Guisados, MercadoChichén Itza, MexiKosher and Ice Cream Lab

The evening brought so many wonderful moments, I had the opportunity to meet some beautiful new faces, sit in a fancy new Lexus and I left feeling happy, taking home some of the positive Latin energy.

I want to thank the event's gracious host Karli Henriquez.
A big hug to my new blogger friends

I like the idea of wearing all one color, but was skeptical of mixing two very different tones of the same shade. I was surprised at how cohesive it looked and how much I actually liked it.  The neutral belt worked well to tie the two colors together as well.

What are your thoughts on wearing different tones of the same color?

Leather Addict

March 24, 2014

Yes, I think I might have a problem.
The last thing my closet needs right now is another piece of leather, but I just couldn't pass up on these. Here's the deal, I found these in a thrift store (new with the original tags) but they were slightly baggy and the cut was all wrong, but the leather was an amazing quality and made in Italy, so I purchased them (they were $8). Then I took them to my genuis tailor and he custom tailored them to my frame for a mere $30. So I don't feel so guilty, I feel like I got a custom pair of leather pants for a great bargain. They are so comfortable and buttery soft, I could wear these every day.

Top 10 ~ Basic Beauty Products

March 1, 2014

I have combination skin and have searched high and low for the perfect cleanser, but nothing compares to the Dove beauty bar. It's the one product that actually removes my make-up without leaving a film or that tight feeling. It's simple and it works. I've been using this as my cleanser for at least 10 years now.

This has so many uses, but I mainly use it as a lip balm, every morning and night. The cocoa butter version smells divine. During the winter, I get some patches of dry skin, on my face or legs and I will apply this and it works magically. Also, when I get a cold and have to constantly blow my nose, it will dry out, but I gently apply this with a cotton swab and it alleviates the dryness as well.

I've been addicted to this body cream since I was in high school. It's rich, creamy and hydrating. The Coconut Lime Breeze scent is my favorite, it reminds me of the beach.

I don't usually straighten my curly hair with a blow dryer or a flat iron. I usually let it dry natural (if time permits) or just blow dry it wildly with no brush. The secret is the curling iron. I've been using a 1.5" barrel curling iron since I was in high school. The size is perfect for over-sized and voluminous curls. This one is ceramic which is more gentle on my hair, plus it's well-priced.

I'm such a baby when it comes to my eye mask. I can't sleep without it. This one is my favorite because it's over-sized and snuggly. It doesn't allow any light to penetrate through, allowing my body to wake up naturally versus being woken up by the light (at least on the weekends that is).

These are such great razors, a little on the pricier side, but worth it in my opinion. I get a very close shave and never any nicks or cuts. Your skin is silky and smooth, I love it.

My sister introduced me to this brow pencil and now I'm addicted. I know the Anastasia Beverly Hills eyebrow products are all the rage, but I tried their Brow Wiz and still prefer my magic little wand. The consistency, color and price is just right.

I've mentioned before just how much I love these products. I use the Day Cream with SPF, the Night Cream and the Eye Cream. Since I've been using them, I have noticed an improvement in my skin's overall smoothness and texture. I highly recommend the eye cream, it works wonders. Even my sister noticed a difference in the lines around my eyes after I started using it.

This has been a staple in my beauty cabinet for many years now. I actually use this at night to clean my neck and chest with a cotton ball. I realized some time ago that I was so committed to washing my face each night, but then doing nothing to care for my neck and chest? I want them to age and be taken care of in a similar manner, so after I clean my neck and chest, I apply the same moisturizer that I apply to my face.

This is a great eye makeup remover. It says oil-free, but it's not. It does leave a thin film of oil, but I actually like it because I think it helps to further moisturize the skin around my eyes. It's gentle and doesn't irritate my eyes either.

I hope you enjoyed my personal top 10 list of basic beauty products.
I intend to follow up with a list of my top 10 splurge worthy beauty products soon.

Cheers!
