Beaded

February 27, 2014

I found this vintage strapless top in a thrift store back in Sacramento over the summer. It's incredibly heavy and the bead work is top quality. It also has built in boning to keep the structure defined. I kind of feel like a Spanish bull fighter wearing it, except the only thing I'm fighting is an overflowing tiny closet. Regardless, it's a fun piece to style and wear.

Happy Thursday!

Super Flare

I've always been a fan of the super flare leg; not a full bell-bottom, but simply an exaggerated flare. I love the vintage, bohemian vibe they give off while still showing off your feminine curves. The queen of the super flare in my opinion is Rachel Zoe. She makes me wonder why my entire pant collection is not exclusively devoted to flares.

Are you a fan?

White Out

February 18, 2014

I love wearing all white, it feels so fresh and pure, especially when you can mix textures.  These pants are wax covered and the shoes are snake skin. I've only done head to toe in all black or white.

How do you feel about dressing head to toe in one color?

Wild West

February 12, 2014

I realized the other day that I've only worn these boots once on the blog, yet I wear them constantly. So I figured they deserved a little post, where the entire outfit is planned around them. Not only are these comfortable, but they seem to go with everything. They look great with black tights and an over-sized sweater, cut off shorts and a white tee, a printed dress and even with dressier pieces they seem to add a rock-meets-the-wild-west vibe.

Do you like to style your cowboy boots?

Structured

February 10, 2014

I intentionally wore this stone grey structured dress to match the beautiful
famous pillars outside of the LACMA. These pictures are not doing justice to how beautiful they look in person. I'm sure it becomes incredibly romantic at night. There are so many gorgeous locations to shoot in LA that you can't help but be inspired by the creativity and beauty that surrounds you.

Wishing you a happy Monday!

New Year's Resolutions - Part 2

February 6, 2014

My second New Year's resolution this year is to carve out time for myself and focus on interests outside of my job that I really enjoy; reading, blogging, photography, dancing, experimenting with recipes, etc.

I am on the right track to making this happen by first not having cable tv in our home and secondly, by finally finishing my work space. I got this desk a while ago but I haven't been using it, well I'd been using it to store a random collection of items that I haven't found a home for in our new place. Since Marshalls challenged me this week to share my resolutions, it was the perfect opportunity to finish this project.

Although not all the activities I listed here take place at desk, most of them do. I spend the most time on blogging and photography, with photography I spend more time editing photos than actually taking them. I don't read as much as I want to, but hopefully having this little work space will encourage me. I'm currently (slowly) reading Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray and so far I love it.

I headed to my favorite local Marshalls shop and scored this beautiful and comfy cream chair. I really love the nail head details, it takes it from boring to chic. While shopping, I came across this cute pink notepad and a coffee cup I couldn't leave behind. You can never have too many cute mugs right? I wasn't sure how it was all going to come together, but I'm happy with the end result.

I will try to give an update down the road on the successes and challenges of my resolutions. I know it's easy to set a plan, but sticking to that plan is hard work.

What do you wish you had more time to do?

New Year's Resolutions - Part 1

February 3, 2014

I've always liked the feel of a new year, the feeling of rebirth and opportunity for change or improvement. This year, one of the things I want to focus more on is personal health. My boyfriend and I usually eat pretty clean and healthy during the week, heavy veggies and fruits, no meat and low carbs, but we always treat ourselves on the weekend. As far as fitness, I've always been a regular runner, a few miles a few times a week, nothing crazy. I've never however, been a big fan of weight training or really any machine where I have to cram my body into only to wonder if I'm using it correctly.

Since our move to LA, I've been running outside, but the mornings are a challenge and by the time I get home from work, it's dark out. So my boyfriend and I decided to join a gym. I was not overly excited about this idea, even getting the tour made me uncomfortable, all these bulky men lifting weights staring at themselves in the mirror while grunting. I was mostly looking forward to using the stairmaster and treadmill. I found out they also have classes. I've taken classes before in other gyms and honestly the intensity level was always low, but I decided I would give them a try anyway and I'm so glad that I did. After my first class, I was sore for almost three days, it was tough getting in and out of my car! My favorite class is the Cardio Blast, it's mixes intense cardio with strength and core training, I always get such a great sweat. Now I'm actually looking forward to going to the gym instead of dreading it.

So you wanna know something embarrassing? Now I'm actually wearing my gym clothes to the office and then heading straight to the gym after work. I know, it's a little sad. I've mentioned before that I work in a super relaxed office, I mean flip flops and shorts are a regular for my co-workers, so nobody seems to really care.

I've partnered up this week with Marshalls to discuss my resolutions for this new year. I shopped their store and found so many great items for the gym that I really needed. I love these Under Armour pants, the material and quality is awesome. I found some five pound weights, for the days I can't make it to the gym. I was also super excited about the arm band so I can listen to music while I'm running outside or on the treadmill. They have so many fitness items right now and the gym clothes are actually cute and comfortable, plus the price is always right.

My overall goal is not to lose weight or have six pack abs, but really to feel toned and healthy. I'm also excited to be excited about the gym and finding a routine that works for me.

Do you have a fitness routine that works for you?
