Spanish Muse: August 2014

August 29, 2014

I love the idea of layering multiple pieces to make an outfit interesting and multi-dimensional. Here I took a pair of shorts, added an orange tank that has two layers of fabric, added the print ruffle top and finished it off with a cinch belt. The ruffled top is honestly too short to wear alone, but it was only $3 at Marshalls, so I had to get it. I love the idea of matching up unexpected pieces and giving a fresh take to items that have been in my closet for some time.

Happy Friday!

I do love a good jumpsuit and this one hits the marks on so many levels. The color is regal, the fabric is generous and design is modern. It's boyishly charming with the baggy pant legs but with a feminine cut on the top half. This piece is so much fun to wear.

I absolutely love this shade of pink, it's so vibrant and happy. It's also a surprisingly versatile color. I decided to layer this sheer printed dress and use it as a duster instead, it seemed like a fun fashion adventure.

Recipe ~ Iced Coffee

August 20, 2014

Today I'm sharing my easy to make iced coffee recipe. I love to make this drink during the warmer months, it's much more refreshing than a hot cup of coffee. I calculated the cost of making this at home and came to a rough estimate of $.50 per drink. A big difference in price compared to your neighborhood coffee shop. You can alter the amounts below based on your  taste preference.

Serving for 1

- 2 Tablespoons Ground Espresso (My favorite is Cafe Bustelo, it's available in most stores)
-1/3 Cup Water
-1 Cup Cold Milk
-2 Teaspoons Sugar
-Dollop of chocolate syrup (optional)

1. Brew the espresso in a regular coffee maker. Add the 2 tablespoons to the filter and add the water to the coffee tank. Allow the coffee to brew completely.
2. Pour the milk into a glass and slowly add the brewed coffee.
3. Add the sugar and syrup. Mix well. Feel free to add more if you prefer a sweeter drink.
4. I like to pour the completed drink into my Drink Mixer, it adds a layer of froth and mixes it well.
5. Finish it off with ice and enjoy!

Hot Pants

August 18, 2014

I felt like a kid when I put this together, I just put on everything that I felt like wearing; a romantic lace top, fringe hot pants and my western suede boots. Then I finished it off with all the my favorite jewelry. It felt a bit like costume, but it was fun to wear, I had no serious business to face that day, so I let my inner 'fashion child' play.

Style Muse - Brigitte Bardot

August 13, 2014

Brigitte Bardot was rocking big bedroom hair before Victoria's Secret was revealed.
She is the queen of volume and is even given credit for bringing into fashion the choucroute hairstyle (a beehive hairstyle seen above). Brigitte could take an updo from boring to bombshell. I love that she didn't just rock this hair on film sets, but in her daily life as well. The styles are so classic and sexy they continue to inspire modern trends.

We took these photos on our last day in Palm Springs. The tropical storm had just passed and the air was warm and dewy. This was the perfect outfit for the evening. The fabric is so light it dances with each step and the silhouette is just romantic, it matched the setting perfectly.

Palm Springs

August 6, 2014

My boyfriend and I just celebrated our 5 year anniversary and decided to drive out to Palm Springs for a few days. We had planned to spend one day in Joshua Tree, but the weather did not cooperate with us. Instead we spent our last day sipping pink champagne in the hot tub under a tropical rain storm.

We were so thrilled with our stay at Hotel California, the staff was amazing and went out of their way to make our experience unforgettable. The hotel staff put so much love and effort into the smallest details and it didn't go unnoticed. There were also plenty of restaurants to choose from, but the highlights were the German Pancakes at Elmer's and the double Cadillac Margaritas at El Mirasol

We are already looking forward to our next trip.

Dip Dye

August 4, 2014

All I want to wear are dresses lately.
This one is so comfy and the color variation is gorgeous. It has over-sized pockets and an adjustable drawstring waist for the times you overindulge on tacos and horchata.

Happy Monday!

If you read my blog on the regular then you know how I love my leather. The texture on this vest is wild and intricate. I love that you can also unzip it from the bottom. It goes great with this leather mini that has been collecting dust in my closet.

Happy Friday!
