Spanish Muse: April 2014

April 30, 2014

I love the sequins on this top, they feel like fish scales, but wearing this top during daylight hours made me feel like a disco ball. I had to tone things down with a casual jacket, but this will be a fun piece to style for a night out on the town.

Happy Wednesday!

I love mixing prints and these two prints have a great Morrocan vibe. A perfect match from my perspective. Plus they are so comfortable, they feel like pajamas.

Happy Monday!

Confidence II

April 25, 2014

I posted earlier this week about confidence and my focus on trying new fashion trends.
With the help of Marshalls, I am able to try a second trend this week without having to empty my bank account.

Honestly, when I first saw overalls as a possible trend, I was turned off. They just seemed adolescent and I felt like I had outgrown them. I spotted these at Marshalls over the weekend and just threw them in my cart, thinking I would only try them just to see how they looked, more for curiosity's sake. They were even the last item I tried on, but when I put them, I was filled with nostalgia and happiness. They looked fashionable and made me feel young and free; I even had the urge to run in an endless field of daisies! I knew right away they were coming home with me.

We didn't go to the daisy field, but we did make a short drive to the Santa Monica Pier where we ran around like two kids while taking photos. I also had cotton candy for the first time in my life! It was delicious and so beautiful.

I'm happy that I was open minded about these overalls and
surprised at how much fun they are to wear!

Happy Friday!

Confidence I

April 23, 2014

I believe that confidence is a work in progress; you get better at it with age.
One aspect of confidence that I focus on is keeping an open mind to new things. I push myself to try new experiences and fashion trends; stepping out of my comfort zone helps me grow and learn more about myself.

Shopping at Marshalls always gives me the confidence to try new fashion trends without the financial commitment of hefty designer prices. I consistently find amazing pieces that are on trend at reasonable prices. I don't spend hundreds of dollars on one piece of clothing, I'm on a realistic budget. I need to always walk away from a shopping experience feeling like I'm the winner!

I'll be sharing two Spring looks this week that are outside of my comfort zone.
I've always thought pastels were not flattering on me, but I've seen these colors popping up everywhere for Spring. I decided to take a chance with this top and go outside of my comfort zone. I love the bohemian design of the top and and the lace detail. These shorts are a great neutral and will be fun to style for the warmer weather. I also love this soft teal clutch, I've been carrying it constantly since I got it and am surprised at the versatility of the color.

Happy Wednesday!

Raw Edges

April 21, 2014

I have a major love for distressed denim shorts. This is the first black pair I've found that fit all the requirements; no cheeks hanging out, a little baggy, and perfectly raw edges. I actually found these in the juniors section at T.J.Maxx as I was heading out the store. Clearly I need to pay better attention in the junior's section in the future.

Happy Monday!

Sayulita ~ Wedding

April 19, 2014

I wanted to wear something light and airy because I knew it was going to be hot.

We are so thrilled that we were able to be present to see our great friends get married.
They are both very special to us. The wedding was beautiful and there were so many great details. The ceremony was so touching, you could feel the love radiating and tears were flowing all around us. I loved the mariachi band and the lanterns. There also happen to be fireworks nearby that were unplanned, but fit in perfectly!

It was an incredible night, full of beautiful memories that we will forever cherish.
